To give you a little taste of my work, here are the first sentences from the first chapters of each of my fantasy novels.

The digital clock read six fifteen when Angel rolled out of bed. - Crossfire

The sweltering summer sun made heat waves shimmer across the dirty chrome and rusted steel of the junkyard cars. - Firestorm

Dagen crouched low behind the wooden barrels, his nose filled with the stench of rotting garbage. - Dragonstar

The night was silent and starless, the sky hidden beneath charcoal clouds, so quite Charlie could hear the horses moving about within their stalls. - Elfblood

Summer was fading into fall, bringing a hint of winter's chill to the nights and early mornings. - The Silver Catacombs

Charlie sat on a cold stone bench beneath a gray sky and held a torn piece of his shirt to the wound on the side of his head as he tried to decide what he should do.  - City Of Magic

Carlan sparked a blue flame and watched it dance across his fingertips. - Firebrand

Carlan sat alone on the flat roof of the two-story adobe house. - Ten Kingdoms

I woke in darkness, with bells ringing in my ears and a hammer in my head. - Flight Of Dragons

Micayta dumped the last barrel of dishwater into the well and sealed it shut, making sure the cap on the top of the well was snug. - Shadow Of The Dragon

Daemon stood in the shadow of the castle, watching the processional wind it's way up the hill toward the castle gates. - Shadow Born

Flames danced in the hearth, casting a flickering light across the gray stone walls. - Shadow Prince

Winter was nearly spent and spring fast approaching. - Shadow King

The Hall Of Eternal Light stood in the heart of Council Territory, high up in the lush canopy of the harmony trees. - Web Of Light

A dozen smooth, gray stones floated in the air above the burbling brook. - Dark Light

Kyra Dune was born in Oklahoma, but spent most of her life travelling with her family. She is the author of more than a dozen fantasy novels, including: Shadow of the Dragon, Elfblood, and Firebrand. As a child, her favorite stories were those that told of ordinary children being whisked away to magical lands. She has yet to find her own secret wardrobe or rabbit hole, but she hasn’t given up the search. You never know what might be waiting over the next rainbow.
