Book Review: Unseen by Melissa Pearl

                (The Elements Trilogy Book 2)

BLURB

Danger surrounds the Seekers. Having already faced overwhelming odds, Kyla and Jethro discover it is only the beginning. Now they must face the power of nature itself.

Each day is a test of faith.

Two elements remain undiscovered. The light is yet to be resurrected. Dark forces prepare to descend upon the heroes of prophecy and they have one more power they must over come...their forbidden love for each other.

Each moment is a test of loyalty and courage.

In Taramon, Athra faces his own demons as he frets over the safety of his fiancée while trying to counter a dark evil that is brought to his doorstep. Treachery lurks in the shadows, forcing the future king into an action that could destroy his beloved city.

Through it all, they must cling to the truths hidden in the unseen.

My Review

Unseen is a story of faith in times of hardship and love blossoming through danger. The search for the light carries Jethro and Kyla far from the world they know, and closer to each other's arms. Meanwhile, Kyla's betrothed stalks the castle halls, his mind torn between worry over his fiancée and cousin, and fear for the beleaguered people of Taramon. When an unthinkable crime forces him into action, he will put the safety of the entire kingdom at risk.

From the chill walls of an ice castle, to the volcanic land of dragons, and straight into heart of darkness itself, Jethro, Kyla, and their companions face one peril after another in their quest to save their world. But not all peril comes from without. Can Kyla overcome her anger toward the god of light for all she believes he has taken from her? Can she and Jethro make the right choice if it means putting their burgeoning love at risk? Can Athra prove himself worthy of being Taramon's future king? The answers to these questions and more can be found within the pages of Unseen.

I enjoyed this sequel to Unknown very much and I'm looking forward to finishing the trilogy out with Unleashed. With wonderful characters and tightly written tension, this is an epic fantasy series I would happily recommend to any fan of the genre.
