INTERVIEW

What inspired you to write this book?

I was inspired by biblical stories especially the ones that speak of angels and demons. I’m became more inspired when I heard their names and what they can do. So I started studying the book of Enoch and Angels A-Z, though I can’t remember who wrote it the detail of about angels was very informative.

How did you choose your title?

I guess you might say it just came to me. My first thought for a title was Spirit Realm but that would have indicated that I’m only talking about one spiritual world and not many. And then later I decided to change it to Realm of Spirits.

Tell us about the cover and how it came to be.

My first thought was to have the first four angelic children surrounding the tree of life in outer space but the artwork didn’t look the way I expected so I had it worked upon again and now it’s more to my liking.

Did you self-publish or publish traditionally and why?

At first I tried to go with a publishing company though it was high priced I saved up for it but nothing became of it. So I self-published instead and made mobi and epub files for tablet readers. But my stories were only heard by friends and family until on friend suggested I do a press release or blog tour. I tried both and know more people know of my stories, even in other countries. Self-publish is better.

What do you consider the most important part of a good story?

Detailed flow and emotion

What is your writing process?

First I start with a rough draft of the ideas in my head. If I introduce a specific element into my story I research it as a conflict and the solution. To give my characters life I would study a person of similar characteristics and add emotions to how I would feel if I was that character.

How long have you been writing?

I been writing for over thirteen years creating my own style.

How did you get started writing?

I constantly day dream and write down my dreams. The thoughts come to me like puzzle pieces but the stories don’t always come in a first to last order.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Most definitely a pantser the stories must flow from my heart and mind as if I’m in another world entirely.

What part of the writing process is the hardest for you?

The hardest part of writing for me is when the story in mind stops at a conflict. Afterwards I have to research a solution that I would be able to understand.

What tips can you give on how to get through writers block?

Read your story from the beginning again you’ll find out there are many ideas that you can add to it. For me it helps get rid of writers block and get further in my writing then I did at first.

What kind of music do you like to listen to while you write?

There are two songs that I like to get me in a writing mood, Mystic’s Dream and Lullaby by Loreena Mckinnitt.
Who is your favorite author?

My two favorite writers are Mike Carey and Neil Gaiman.

Who is your favorite character from a book?

My favorite character from a book is the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is actually a graphic novel by Mike Carey, Lucifer volume 4. Divine Comedy.
